Adjusters Frequently Asked Questions



Adjuster

  • Completion of 40 hour property casualty pre-licensing course. For prelicensing provider listing, click here.
  • Passing score on Adjuster examination. For information regarding examination procedures, click here.
  • Completion of form GID-103. To print application, click here.
  • Payment of $115.
  • Waiver of Prelicensing course and examination can be granted if applicant holds CPCU designation. Must attach copy of CPCU designation to application.
  • Waiver of Prelicensing course and examination can be granted if applicant was previously licensed for same lines in prior home state; license in that state must be active at the time of moving to Georgia, applicant must attach original clearance letter from prior home state and must apply for licensure within 90 days of the date of the move to Georgia.

Crop Hail Adjuster

  • Passing score on Crop Hail Adjuster examination. For information regarding examination procedures, click here.
  • Completion of form GID-103. To print application, click here.
  • Payment of $115.
  • Waiver of examination can be granted if applicant holds CPCU designation. Must attach copy of CPCU designation to application.
  • Waiver of examination can be granted if applicant was previously licensed for same lines in prior home state; license in that state must be active at the time of moving to Georgia, applicant must attach original clearance letter from prior home state and must apply for licensure within 90 days of the date of the move to Georgia.

Public Adjuster

  • Completion of public adjuster $5,000 bond. To print bond, click here.
  • Payment of $115.
  • Waiver of Prelicensing course and examination can be granted if applicant holds CPCU designation. Must attach copy of CPCU designation to application.
  • Waiver of Prelicensing course and examination can be granted if applicant was previously licensed for same lines in prior home state; license in that state must be active at the time of moving to Georgia, applicant must attach original clearance letter from prior home state and must apply for licensure within 90 days of the date of the move to Georgia.

Workers Compensation

  • Completion of Certified Workers Compensation Professional Designation (CWCP); must attach CWCP certificate to license application.
  • Completion of form GID-103. To print application, click here.
  • Payment of $115.
  • Waiver of Prelicensing course and examination can be granted if applicant holds CPCU designation. Must attach copy of CPCU designation to application.
  • Waiver of Prelicensing course and examination can be granted if applicant was previously licensed for same lines in prior home state; license in that state must be active at the time of moving to Georgia, applicant must attach original clearance letter from prior home state and must apply for licensure within 90 days of the date of the move to Georgia.

Nonresident Adjuster

  • Completion of Nonresident Uniform Application for Individual Producer To print application, click here.
  • Proof of home state licensure for license type requested; proof may be in form of an Original certification letter dated within 90 days from resident state or PDB printout.
  • Payment of $115.
  • If you are from a state that does not have a license requirement, you may still be licensed in Georgia however you must take the Georgia Adjuster Examination to qualify. For examination information, click here.

Registration of Staff Adjusters

  • Each Insurer having salaried employees, who adjust claims on a regular basis in the State of Georgia, wherever such employees are located, shall upload a list of such employees with the Commissioner annually by March 31. The upload is accessed by the insurer via the company portal.
  • The term 'adjuster' does not include a salaried employee of an insurer who adjusts or assists in adjusting losses under policies issued by such insurer. Therefore, persons who fit in this category are not included in the definition of "adjuster" and are no longer subject to the continuing education requirements.

Clearance Letter

  • Completion of form Request for Clearance Letter. To print application, click here.
  • Fee is $10.

Renewal of Existing License

Renewal notices are available to all eligible licensees 45 days prior to renewal date; if you have renewal processing questions, please contact the Georgia Department of Insurance at 404-656-2101.
